Nicoleta Muntean

is an international development professional with more than fifteen years of experience in managing, implementing and monitoring project initiatives, trainings being one of the main activities of these projects. The cross-cutting themes of the projects were gender, social accountability and human rights.

In the last two years, she has undertaken consultancy positions in a number of organizations and projects in Moldova. She is currently serving as Gender Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant for the UNDP project “Migration and Local Development” and as Organization Development Coordinator for the Women’s Law Center. Prior to that she was Human Rights Mainstream Consultant with Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and Programme Analyst with UN Women. She also served as the Director of Human resources Department of the National Bank of Moldova, re-engineering human resources processes at the central bank level. As a gender advisor to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), she was conducting gender related trainings and information exchanges in coordination with OSCE staff, civil society organizations and government delegations. She has also participated in information-gathering missions with the International Criminal Court as an associate victims expert and investigator in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, and Rwanda. She has also served as program manager with OHCHR in the DRC and project officer with International Organization for Migration in Kosovo, providing senior-level leadership to project initiatives focused on victims of sexual violence and trafficking.

Ms. Muntean has also provided strategic and technical support to staff, including interagency coordination and collaboration with partners (civil society organizations, international organizations, and government ministries). She also has held an interim director position with the Soros Foundations’ Local Governance and Cross-Border Cooperation Program in Moldova and Senior Development Officer with the Moldovan Microfinance Alliance, setting first Savings and Credit Associations in Moldova.

She holds an LLM in Legal Theory, MA in International Studies and a BA in Political Science. She is also fluent in Russian, Romanian, French and English.
